This sweatshirt is based on a very rare French half-zip sweatshirt from the 1950s. The fabric has been specially developed from the knitting stage. Made from 100% cotton indigo French terry knitted on loopwheel machines in Japan, the sweatshirt is treated after sewing to bring out the distinctive character of indigo. To preserve the unique texture associated with tubular construction, the fabric is deliberately cut and sewn rather than made in a continuous tube. The construction has also been adapted to allow for a wider range of sizes than would be possible with traditional tubular construction. Another appeal of this sweatshirt is the way the indigo develops character with continued wear.
