For construction, flat-seam stitching is used on the main areas that contact the skin, with the seam allowances lying flat to reduce the feeling of bulk when worn. The design eliminates the drawcord, which can tend to give a casual appearance, and uses a zipper construction that raises the front of the hood. Even without tightening it with a drawcord, the raised hood helps prevent cold air from entering around the neck and improves warmth retention. The zipper teeth are concealed on both sides so that the zipper, which extends up to the neck, does not damage the skin or clothing.
